Since its inception in 2008, the Indian Premier League (IPL) has seen some exhilarating action from both batsmen and bowlers worldwide. One thing that keeps fans glued is the number of sixes smashed out of the park. The IPL has seen some of the biggest hitters of the ball hit the ball out of the park on several occasions. That being said, here is a list of the biggest sixes that the IPL has witnessed to date:

10. MS Dhoni (112 Metres)

In IPL 2012, CSK skipper MS Dhoni smashed one of the longest sixes in IPL history. In the eliminator between CSK and MI, Dhoni hit a huge six against James Franklin’s delivery. The ball literally flew out of the ground, at a distance of 112 meters.

9. Rohit Sharma (115 Metres)

MI skipper Rohit Sharma powered the ball out the ground when Deccan Chargers played KKR back in IPL 2009. Sharma hit KKR’s Mashrafe Mortaza in the final over of the game for a six that was recorded at an astonishing 115 meters.

8. Ben Cutting (117 Metres)

In IPL 2016, Australian cricketer Ben Cutting hit the biggest six in the entirety of the season. Facing RCB’s Shane Watson, Cutting smashed a full toss out of the stadium, as the six recorded an insane distance of 117 meters.

7. Yuvraj Singh (118 Metres)

Yuvraj Singh was part of the Punjab franchise in IPL 2009. Playing against CSK, Yuvraj smashed one of the biggest sixes in IPL history against Albie Morkel. The six was measured at an astonishing 118 meters.

6. Ross Taylor (119 Metres)

At no 6 on this list is New Zealand cricketer Ross Taylor. Playing for RCB in IPL 2009, Taylor took CSK’s Jacob Oram to the cleaners. Taylor’s monstrous six was measured at 119 meters.

5. Chris Gayle (119 Metres)

This list would have been incomplete without West Indian cricketer Chris Gayle. In IPL 2013, Gayle smashed PWI bowler Ali Murtaza’s delivery out of the ground. His enormous hit traveled a distance of 119 meters.

4. Robin Uthappa (120 metres)

At no 4 is Indian cricketer Robin Uthappa. In IPL 2010, Uthappa smashed Dwayne Bravo’s delivery out of the ground. His humongous six traveled a huge distance of 120 meters.

3. Adam Gilchrist (122 Metres)

Gilchrist was part of the Punjab franchise in IPL 2010. In a match between KXIP and RCB, Gilchrist hit one of the biggest sixes in IPL history. Gilchrist sent RCB bowler Charl Langeveldt’s delivery out of the stands. Gilchrist’s monster six traveled an enormous distance of 122 meters and still remains one of the biggest sixes to date.

2. Praveen Kumar (124 Metres)

It is quite unlikely to see a bowler make it into the list of the biggest six hitters. However, Praveen Kumar is an exception. Astonishingly, Kumar smashed Lasith Malinga’s delivery out of the stadium in an encounter in IPL 2011. His six travelled 124 metres and is the biggest six hit by a bowler in IPL history.

1. Albie Morkel (125 Metres)

The record for the biggest six in IPL history is held by South African cricketer Albie Morkel. In the inaugural IPL edition, Morkel did the unthinkable. His massive strike against Pragyan Ojha travelled 125 metres, making him the longest six-hitter in IPL history.
