The England Test skipper and star all-rounder Ben Stokes finally cleared the air on the speculations of him retiring from ODIs and T20Is. For the last couple of weeks, the fans and cricketing fraternity were expecting that Stokes might come back from his retirement in the limited-overs format; it was being expected for his crucial role in the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023 in India later this year.
But recently in an interview with the Telegraph, he made it very clear that he will not be coming back from his retirement in the ODIs and T20Is.“I remain retired from the ODIs and will not reverse it,” said Stokes and backed his decision of retiring from white-ball cricket.
Subsequently, some cricket fans came with a lot of reactions on social media. They took to Twitter to give their responses to Ben Stokes’ statement and stand on not coming from retirement. Some of the fans also felt that England might convince him to come back before the ODI World Cup 2023.
England's captain aims to salvage Ashes 2023 in decisive fifth Test
Currently, the 32-year-old is leading England in the ongoing Ashes 2023 against Australia. He will be in action with his side in the fifth Ashes 2023 Test, starting shortly today at the Kennington Oval in London.
Notably, the Three Lions are already trailing in the series by a margin of 1-2 after two consecutive losses in the first two Tests. Although they were looking to make a comeback after a win at the Headingley. Rain played a spoilsport in the Manchester Test when the hosts were completely dominating the match in their quest to level the series.
Eventually, the Manchester Test ended in a draw and the Aussies retained the Ashes for the third consecutive time after they won it four years back in 2019. Apart from that, the Australians also defeated India in the final of the World Test Champions of WTC cycle 2021-23 which was at the Kennington Oval in London.
