In what seems to be an unexpected and big blow to Australia, the veteran spinner and modern-day bowling great, Nathan Lyon has gone injured. In a displeasing visual, Lyon was seen with crutches while he was heading towards the Lord’s Cricket Ground ahead of the third day of the ongoing second Ashes 2023 Test.

Notably, the New South Wales cricketing veteran recently achieved a unique record as he became the only player to play 100 consecutive Test matches since 2013 till the ongoing Lord’s Test against England.

Meanwhile, the speculations about Lyon’s injury are drawing a lot of reactions and responses from cricket fans. Fans took to the micro-blogging site Twitter and wished a speedy recovery to the Aussie spin great.

Speaking of the ongoing action in the match at the Lord’s in London, the Aussies have just bundled up England on the score of 325 runs in their first innings. With that, the visitors have also taken a lead of 91 runs before going to bat in the second innings.

England started the third day with their score of 278 runs for the loss of four wickets at the end of the second day. But The Three Lions faced an embarrassing collapse and lost the remaining six wickets only on the score of 47 runs.

Opener Ben Duckett and middle-order batter Harry Brook scored half-centuries and contributed with the knocks of 98 and 50 runs respectively. Other than these two, another opener Zak Crawley and number three batter Ollie Pope also contributed with the knocks of 78 and 42 runs respectively.

Australian pacer Mitchell Starc scalped three wickets alongside two wickets each claimed by Josh Hazlewood and Travis Head. Apart from these three, the skipper Pat Cummins, spinner Nathan Lyon, and all-rounder Cameron Green also picked one wicket each to their names.
