20-20 World Cup 2022: 3 reasons why fans don't want Rishabh Pant in Indian squad

India has announced the squad for the 20-20 World Cup 2022 and one has to admit fans are in dilemma with one selection. Surprisingly, it is the name of Rishabh Pant and he has only himself to blame for his poor performances. The player is one of the greatest in the test format.  Sadly, the southpaw has not been able to replicate the same in the shortest format of the game. The 24-year-old has played as many as 58 T20Is and has not played a lot of impressive innings. 

Here are the three reasons why fans want Rishabh Pant to be snapped from the 20-20 World Cup 2022 squad:

1) No impactful performances

Rishabh Pant has donned the Indian jersey in 58 T20Is. He has got an opportunity to play in 51 of those and most of them have been cheap dismissals. The 24-year-old has an average of 23.95 in the format and has managed to score only three 50+ scores. 

His highest score in the shortest format of the game is 65. This is one of the major reasons why fans are not happy with the player in the shortest format.

2) No accountability:

One has to agree that he has not been held accountable for his failures either. While players like Shreyas Iyer or a few others got slammed for their inconsistency, Rishabh Pant has been lucky enough to end up on the other side of the world.

The southpaw never really received backlash for his performances. Neither did he admit it nor he had to face a do-or-die situation. This has angered the fans severely, who think Rishabh Pant has been getting a free hand.

3) The Dinesh Karthik Factor:

The third has nothing to do with Rishabh Pant. However, the emphatic emergence of Dinesh Karthik as a finisher has put him under the radar. The increasing pressure to perform in every match on the back of stupendous performances from the Tamil Nadu player is forcing the fans to snub him out of the team. 

Understandably, Dinesh Karthik is at the peak of his form and finished matches casually for the Bangalore team. The veteran matched the word ‘effortless’ with his performances and set a standard for himself. This forced the fans to demand the removal of Rishabh Pant from the squad.
