20-20 World Cup: How much prize money Australia, New Zealand won ?

Australia defeated New Zealand in the final of the 20-20 World Cup to claim their maiden title. New Zealand had set a target of 173 to win for Australia. Kane Williamson played a breathtaking knock of 85 to steer New Zealand to a competitive total. However, half-centuries by David Warner and Mitchell Marsh were enough to take Australia to their first 20-20 World Cup title win.

Australia had come into the tournament on the back of series losses against West Indies and Bangladesh. Most of the players had not played a lot of cricket in the build-up to the event. Few players participated in the Indian Premier League but barring Maxwell, others looked ordinary. Add to that the conditions, that Australians are not very comfortable with. Yet, the team defied all odds and became champions. Barring a loss against England, the team played remarkably well. They defeated Pakistan in the semi final, the only team that was undefeated till then.

Coming to New Zealand, the team once again lived up to the expectations and reached yet another final. However, as has been their story over the years, heartbreak in the summit clash was awaiting them. Yet, the players can hold their head high given the way they played.

Meanwhile, Australia and New Zealand were awarded handsome money by the cricket's governing body. The Australian team will get a sum of 11.9 crore INR for winning the trophy. They will also get 1.2 crores for winning four Super 12 games.

New Zealand, on the other hand,  will receive 5.95 crores as runners up. They will also get 1.2 crores for winning four games in the Super 12s.
