New Zealand faced defeat against Pakistan in their tournament opener. However, they bounced back stronger to win the crucial encounter against India. Against Pakistan, the team had put up a good fight and did not let the chase be a cakewalk for the opposition. However, Asif Ali’s cameo took the Men in Green past the total.
Taking on the challenge against India, the Black Caps exuded a clinical performance and took a giant stride towards the semis by registering a win by eight wickets. They possess a potent bowling bunch that has marched the trumpet of their repertoire in both the games so far. Their fast bowling spearhead, Trent Boult displayed his flair by clinching three wickets in the previous game.
Ish Sodhi was also clinical with the ball and Santner too looked in sensational form. Daryl Mitchell brought up an impressive show with the willow and fashioned the team’s win against India. The team will look forward to securing a dominating win in order to better their run rate in the mega event.
Scotland, on the other hand, had an impressive stint in the initial part of the tournament. They won three straight matches to make it to the Super 12s. But then, they faced back-to-back defeats against Afghanistan and Namibia. Against the former, the team was wrapped up for just 60 runs whilst chasing a competitive total.
Whereas against Namibia, they managed only 109 runs at the end of 20 overs. Heading into this match against one of the top sides of the tournament, the team will need to punch above their weight.
The spinners, Chris Greaves, Mark Watt, and Michael Leask were pretty impressive in the previous game and will look to replicate the same. It will be important for their batters to put up a spirited show against Kiwi attack
