Pakistan’s interim head coach Saqlain Mushtaq wants to see India and Pakistan clash for the 20-20 World Cup title. The Babar Azam-led Pakistan had a great start to the showpiece event, defeating India by 10 wickets. The win was historic for the team as it finally managed to break its 12-match losing streak against India in World Events. Carrying on from where they left against India, Pakistan put up a spirited show against New Zealand to beat them by 5 wickets.

The former Pakistan spinner feels facing India in the summit clash would be great as they are a strong team and one of the favourites to win the title. "When you come with a mindset to become a world champion then you don't think about the opponent," Saqlain said in a virtual press conference on Thursday.

"If India makes it to the final with us, it would be a great thing because I feel -- and this is not because we became big-headed after beating them -- but because they are a strong team, everyone considers them a favorite.”

Apart from India, England and Australia are also being considered as the favourites for the title. England and Australia, like Pakistan, have managed to register two wins in the Super 12s. Mushtaq, however, feels if India comes to the final, it would be great for the cricket's governing body and the fans. Notably, a clash between the wo arch-rivals is rare owing to the political tensions. The teams only clash in Asia Cup and global events.

“If India comes in the final, then it would be very good for the ICC, fans around the world, and for world cricket -- everyone will enjoy it. They are our neighbouring country and playing one more match would only improve our relations," he pointed.

India and Pakistan met in the 2007 20-20 World Cup final where India picked up a close win to win their maiden 20-20 World Cup title.
