Preview:
Heading into the Match 15 of the 20- 20 World Cup, Sri Lanka will pin a lot of hopes on their bowlers to star for the team in the clash against Bangladesh. Both the teams have made it to the Super 12s after going through the qualifiers. Sri Lanka registered victory in all their three games of the first round of Group A.
The Dasun Shanaka-led side topped Group A with dominant victories over Namibia, Ireland, and the Netherlands. The team has had a splendid run so far, winning all their encounters, and will be buzzing with confidence. Sri Lanka’s batters, however, will have to take the mantle of scoring big runs. Sri Lanka’s fragile middle-order has been an area of concern for them.
Their bowling unit has exuded some great character in all three matches. They restricted the teams to low totals and blew the trumpet of their repertoire. The holes in their batting lineup thus have been covered up by their lethal-looking bowlers but against strong opposition, they might not be able to do so thus it's very important for the batters to step up.
Bangladesh, on the other hand, started its campaign on a disappointing note. They lost their first game against Scotland but the Tigers bounced back stronger to secure victory in the next two matches. They completely outplayed PNG and won the game by a big margin that improved their net run rate and also fixed their spot in the Super 12s.
Their skipper Mahmudullah is having a good time with the willow and that would go down as a big positive for the side. Their middle order hasn’t been at their absolute best but is quite reliable. Bangladesh has enjoyed a good amount of success against Sri Lanka across formats and that might keep their spirits high.
The team entered the tournament with good form by their side, having registered their first-ever series victory against Australia and thus, barring the game against Scotland, the team has been quite impressive of late.
Mustafizur Rahman is one of the strongest links of Bangladesh’s chain. With his clinical and economical bowling, he becomes a pivotal prospect of the side. Shakib Al Hasan also has made some incredible contributions to the team with both the bat and the ball and a lot will depend on him in which direction Bangladesh's campaigns heads.
Pitch and Conditions:
The Sharjah pitch hasn’t been a batting paradise lately. The spinners are expected to get an edge on this surface. Chasing teams have enjoyed good success here.
Weather Report:
The game wouldn’t be affected by rain as there are no rain forecasts. It is a day match and thus the atmosphere will be hot, humid, and dry.
