The Indian Ministry of External Affairs has cleared its stand after Pakistan’s foreign minister’s reported statement that Islamabad is keen to keep sports and politics away from each other. Apart from this, India’s Ministry of External Affairs has also issued an official statement regarding Islamabad’s security concerns for Pakistan Cricket Team in the ODI World Cup 2023 in India.

Notably, there has been a lot of confusion regarding Pakistan’s travel to India for the marquee international tournament. Pakistan's Prime Minister formed a high-level committee to discuss concerns about travelling to India for the World Cup.

I hope this is not war as it seems to be made out to be: MEA Spokesperson

Returning to New Delhi’s statement on the treatment of Pakistan in the ODI Cricket World Cup in 2023, it has cleared that the men in green will be receiving the treatment just like any other participating team in the tournament.

“The Pakistan cricket team will be treated just like the cricket team of any other country participating in the ICC World Cup,” said MEA sports minister Arindam Bagchi.

“Of course, we would hope that all necessary security will be provided not just to them but to all other participating teams. I hope that there is a good match and I hope this is not war as it seems to be made out to be,” he added later.

Notably, the highly anticipated clash between the arch-rivals India and Pakistan was scheduled earlier on the 15th of October, but it was rescheduled a day before on the 14th of October as the date of the match was clashing with the prominent festival of Navratri celebrated on a big scale in the city of Ahmedabad.

Apart from that, 8 other matches have also been rescheduled due to various reasons. The tournament will kick off on the 5th of October with the tournament opener between the defending champions, England, and the runners-up of the ODI World Cup 2019, New Zealand.

Cricket fans reacted to the Indian Ministry of External Affairs' statement with various responses, opinions, and trolling remarks towards Pakistan Cricket Team.
