The 2nd week of IPL 2021 has finally come to an end. In the 1st 14 days of IPL 2021, we witnessed some nail-biting encounters. As it stands, RCB is currently at the top of the IPL 2021 points table. Meanwhile, RR sits at the bottom of the table, with only 1 win in 4 matches. We also saw some tremendous batting knocks from some of the best in the game. That said, here are the 3 best batting performances in the 2nd week of IPL 2021:
3. Shikhar Dhawan (92)
Shikhar Dhawan is the current Orange Cap holder in IPL 2021. In 4 matches so far this season, Dhawan has already amassed 231 runs. However, Dhawan’s standout knock in this season so far came against PBKS. Chasing a total of 195, DC got off to a flying start. In 5 overs, DC’s score was 59/0. Shaw got out after scoring 32 runs in 17 balls. However, Dhawan kept firing for DC. In just 49 balls, Dhawan notched an impressive knock of 92. His terrific innings featured a total of 13 fours and 2 mammoth sixes. Unfortunately, Dhawan failed to notch his maiden IPL 2021 century. However, his innings already set the tone for DC. In the end, DC won the match with 6 wickets in hand and 10 balls left to bowl.
2. Faf du Plessis (95*)
In the 15th match of IPL 2021, 3-time IPL winners CSK locked horns with KKR. KKR skipper Eoin Morgan won the toss and put Chennai to bat first. CSK’s opening duo of Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis ran riot against KKR’s bowlers. Prior to Gaikwad’s dismissal, CSK already amassed 115 runs in 12 overs. Moreover, du Plessis kept smashing balls out of the park. The South African amassed a total of 9 fours and 4 sixes in just 60 balls. Thanks to du Plessis, CSK posted a huge total of 220 for KKR to chase. In the end, it proved too much for KKR as they fell short by 18 runs. For his tremendous knock with the bat, Faf du Plessis was awarded the Man of the Match award.
1. Devdutt Padikkal (101*)
RCB and RR locked horns in the 16th match of IPL 2021. Batting first, RR managed to score 177 runs in 20 overs. In reply, the duo of Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal sealed the deal for RCB. While Kohli smashed 72, Padikkal amassed his maiden IPL hundred. Facing just 52 balls, the 20-year-old amassed a total of 101 runs. Padikkal’s outstanding innings featured a total of 11 fours and 6 sixes. In the end, RCB won with 10 wickets in hand and 18 balls left to bowl.
