The 32-year-old has scalped an impressive 50 wickets against England in his Test career. The bowler also boasts a solid bowling economy of 2.91 against England in the Test format. That said, here are 3 of Tim Southee’s best spells against England in the Test format:

6/50 (2013)

Southee bowled brilliantly in the 2nd innings of the 1st Test of the 2013 Test series against England. In just 19 overs, Southee scalped an impressive 6 wickets in total. The bowler also maintained a solid bowling economy of just 2.63 runs per over. New Zealand needed to chase a target of 239 to win the 1st Test. However, England restricted them to a total of just 69. In the end, England went on to win the 1st Test by a comprehensive margin of 170 runs.

6/62 (2018)

Southee ran riot against England in the 1st innings of the 2nd Test of the 2018 Test series. In just 29 overs, Southee scalped an impressive 6 wickets for New Zealand. The 32-year-old also maintained a brilliant bowling economy of 2.38 runs per over. New Zealand needed to chase a target of 382 to win the 2nd Test. However, New Zealand could only manage to score 256 runs at the loss of 8 wickets. Eventually, the 2nd Test resulted in a stalemate.

5/55 (2008)

Tim Southee made his Test debut against England in the 3rd Test of the 2008 Test series between New Zealand and England. The debutant scalped an impressive 5 wickets in total for New Zealand in the 1st innings of the Test. New Zealand needed to chase a massive target of 553 to win the 3rd Test. However, England bowled out New Zealand for 431. In the end, New Zealand went on to win the 3rd Test by a margin of 121 runs.
