The 2nd half of IPL 2021 is set to be hosted by UAE in September 2021. Quite a few bowlers impressed with the ball in the 1st half of the IPL this year. However, only a few managed to consistently pick wickets for their respective IPL franchise. That said, here are 3 bowlers who could win the Purple Cap after the UAE leg:
3. Yuzvendra Chahal
RCB spin bowler Yuzvendra Chahal failed to impress with the ball in the 1st half of IPL 2021. In 7 matches in the 1st half of IPL 2021, Chahal managed to scalp only 4 wickets in 7 matches for RCB. The RCB bowler also leaked runs at a poor bowling economy of 8.26 in the 1st half of IPL 2021. However, Chahal was one of RCB’s best bowlers in the IPL last year. In just 15 matches in IPL 2020, Chahal scalped a total of 20 wickets for RCB. If Chahal performs in a similar fashion in the 2nd half of IPL 2021, he could win the Purple Cap after the UAE leg.
2. Kagiso Rabada
Kagiso Rabada is another bowler who could win the Purple Cap after the UAE leg. Rabada was outstanding for DC in the 13th edition of the IPL. In just 17 matches in the IPL last season, Rabada scalped a total of 30 wickets for DC. If Rabada manages to find form in the 2nd half of IPL 2021, he could go on to win the Purple Cap after the UAE leg.
1. Harshal Patel
Harshal Patel is the most likely candidate to win the Purple Cap in the IPL this year. Patel was in sublime form in the 1st half of the IPL this year. In just 7 matches in the 1st half of IPL 2021, Patel scalped a total of 17 wickets for RCB. The 30-year-old also bagged his maiden fifer against MI in the 1st match of IPL 2021. Patel is clearly way ahead of his rivals and is the favorite to win the Purple Cap after the UAE leg.
