Inaugural IPL champions Rajasthan Royals have performed poorly in the last 2 seasons in the Indian Premier League. In both IPL 2020 and 2021, Rajasthan failed to qualify for the IPL playoffs. The Rajasthan franchise will be keen on signing quality players in the upcoming IPL mega auction. However, the RR management will also want to make sure that the best players are retained for the next season. That said, here are 3 players on whom RR might use their Right to Match in the IPL mega auction:
3. Rahul Tewatia
Rahul Tewatia performed brilliantly for RR in the IPL last year. In 14 matches in IPL 2020, Tewatia racked up 255 runs and scalped 10 wickets with the ball for RR. Owing to a brilliant outing in IPL 2020, Tewatia received his maiden national call-up. Unfortunately, Tewtaia could not pass the fitness test and failed to make his national debut. However, the RR all-rounder is on the radar of the national selectors for the upcoming World Cup. RR will surely look to retain Tewatia for the IPL next year.
2. Jos Buttler
England batsman Jos Buttler is arguably one of RR’s most crucial players in the IPL. Buttler’s exquisite century against SRH was one of the positives for RR in IPL 2021. In 7 matches in IPL 2021, Buttler racked up an impressive 254 runs for RR. His superb strike rate of 153.01 in IPL 2021 speaks volumes about his effectiveness as a batsman. Clearly, RR will not be looking to let Jos Buttler go in the upcoming IPL mega auction.
1. Jofra Archer
Another crucial overseas player in the RR side is England bowler Jofra Archer. Archer bowled brilliantly in the IPL last year. In just 14 games in IPL 2020, Archer scalped a total of 20 wickets for the RR side. Furthermore, the England bowler maintained a fantastic bowling economy of 6.55 in the IPL last season. Unfortunately, Archer sustained an injury before IPL 2021 commenced. Owing to that, the England bowler did not play a single match in the IPL this year. The RR management will look to utilise their RTM card on the English cricketer in the IPL mega auction.
