Delhi Capitals performed brilliantly in the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League. The IPL 2020 finalists won 6 out of 8 matches in the 1st half of IPL 2021. Former DC skipper Shreyas Iyer will also be available for selection in the 2nd phase of IPL 2021. However, there are a few players in the DC squad who might not be available for the 2nd half of IPL 2021. That said, here are 3 DC players who might participate in the 2nd phase of IPL 2021:
1. Chris Woakes
Chris Woakes is undoubtedly one of the most underrated all-rounders in the shortest format of the game. The 32-year-old did not feature in the IPL last year. However, Woakes did play for DC in the IPL this year. In 3 matches in IPL 2021, Woakes scalped an impressive 5 wickets in total. The DC bowler also maintained a superb bowling economy of 7.45 in the IPL this year. Woakes is a brilliant bowler in the death overs. Clearly, DC will miss the presence of Chris Woakes in the DC side in the 2nd half of IPL 2021.
2. Tom Curran
Tom Curran is another DC player who might not play the 2nd half of IPL 2021. The 26-year-old all-rounder has played in T20 Leagues around the world. Hence, Curran certainly has the experience needed to succeed in the shortest format of the game. However, Curran has received criticism for conceding too many runs in the IPL this year. Owing to his poor bowling, Curran was dropped from the DC starting lineup in the IPL this year. Regardless, Tom Curran is an experienced bowler who can also deliver with the bat when needed. The 26-year-old is part of the England T20I squad and is likely to miss the 2nd half of IPL 2021.
3. Sam Billings
Sam Billings is an excellent T20 rounder who has been a part of the T20 League format for quite some time now. In 22 matches in his IPL career, Billings has amassed 334 runs in total. The 29-year-old also boasts a terrific strike rate of 133.60 in his IPL career. Since Billings is part of the England T20I squad, he is likely to skip the 2nd phase of IPL 2021.
