With the IPL set to start in 2 days, every franchise will look to make the most of their signings in the recently contested IPL 2021 auction. A total of 61 slots were available, out of which 57 got filled. Chris Morris was the most expensive signing of the IPL auction. The bowler was roped by Rajasthan Royals at an insane 16.25 cr. To date, this has been the most expensive signing in IPL auction history. While some players are expected to deliver as per their price tag, there are a few players who might have been overvalued by their respective IPL franchises. Here is a list of 3 expensive signings who might fail to justify their price tag in IPL 2021:

3. Krishnappa Gowtham (9.25 cr)

Gowtham was roped in by CSK in the IPL 2020 auction at a whopping price tag of 9.25 cr. The off-spinning all-rounder is now the most expensive uncapped player in IPL history. However, his IPL statistics don't back the bowler to deliver this season. Gowtham has only played 24 matches in his IPL career, picking an unimpressive 13 wickets in total. With Moeen Ali and Ravindra Jadeja likely high in the pecking order, there is a possibility that Gowtham might not get enough game time in the IPL this season.

2. Jhye Richardson (14 cr)

PBKS roped in Jhye Richardson for a whopping 14 cr in the IPL 2021 auction. The Australian bowler was fantastic in the BBL 2020-21, finishing as the leading wicket-taker with 29 wickets in just 14 games. However, there is a possibility that Richardson might fail to replicate his performance in IPL 2021. Bowlers who have been successful in the BBL have failed to make a mark in the IPL. Consequently, Richardson might struggle with the Indian playing conditions, unlike in Australia, which was in his favor.

Kyle Jamieson (15 cr)

No 1 on this list is New Zealand bowler Kyle Jamieson. RCB acquired the services of Jamieson in the IPL 2021 auction at a staggering 15 cr. However, it is highly likely that Jamieson will fail to justify his price tag. The bowler was costly in the limited-overs series against India. In 15 overs, Jamieson leaked 175 runs at an expensive economy of 11.66. Furthermore, he clearly does not have any experience playing in the IPL. Considering these factors, there is a possibility that Jamieson might not deliver as expected.
