On 24 January 2023, team India took on New Zealand in the last and third match of the ongoing ODI series. The match took place in Indore and the home side were looking for a clean sweep after winning the first two matches. However, Rohit Sharma had two decent performances in the first two matches. 

In the first match in Hyderabad, he scored 34 runs off 338 balls, including four boundaries and two sixes. Then, in the second match in Raipur, Rohit scored a quickfire 51 runs off 50 balls, including seven fours and two sixes. So, fans were hoping to see a better performance from the batter Rohit Sharma in the clash.

Rohit Sharma scored 101 runs off 85 balls against New Zealand in the third ODI

Rohit Sharma last scored a century in the ODI format against Australia in Bangalore on 19th January 2020. So, fans were eager to see him score another century in this format. However, after scoring a quickfire 51 runs in the second match, Rohit Sharma said that a big score is around the corner and he is confident about it. During the post-match presentation ceremony, he said: "I'm trying to change my game a bit now, have been trying to take the bowlers on and I think that's important, to try to put the pressure back. I know the big scores haven't come, but I'm not too worried about it. I am happy with my batting. I have kept my approach quite similar. I am happy with how I am going. I know a big score is around the corner."

Meanwhile, he kept his promise as Rohit Sharma ended his century drought of three years in the match in Indore. While batting first, he and Shubman Gill gave a solid start to the team. The first wicket of the team fell on 212 runs in 26.1 overs. Rohit Sharma scored 101 runs off 85 balls, including nine fours and six over-boundaries.
