The IPL can easily be regarded as the most exhilarating T20 league in the world. While the T20 format is believed to be a batsman’s game, there are some bowlers who have given a tough time to world-class batsmen in the IPL. However, there are a few bowlers who strike terror in the heart of batsmen with their wicket-taking ability. Here is a list of the 3 highest wicket-takers in IPL history:

3. Piyush Chawla (156)

Indian bowler Piyush Chawla has been part of the IPL since its inception back in the year 2008. The leg spinner was part of the Punjab franchise from 2008-13. Prior to that, Chawla joined forces with KKR in 2014. He was part of the KKR franchise for the next 6 seasons. In IPL 2020, Chawla joined the ranks of CSK. However, this year, Chawla will represent the 5-time IPL winners Mumbai Indians. IN 164 IPL matches, Chawla has scalped a total of 156 wickets. Chawla bagged best figures in a match against RCB while playing for Punjab in IPL 2011. He picked up 4 wickets, conceding just 17 runs in total. With such phenomenal figures, Chawla will surely bring a lot on the table for Mumbai Indians this season.

2. Amit Mishra (160)

Just like Piyush Chawla, Amit Mishra has played in every edition of the IPL to date. Mishra started his IPL career playing for the Delhi franchise. After 2 years, Mishra parted ways with Delhi and went on to play for Deccan Chargers. Mishra left DC to play for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2013 and 2014. Since IPL 2015, Mishra has been with the Delhi Capitals. In 160 IPL matches, Mishra has picked a total of 160 wickets. Mishra also holds the record for the most hat-tricks in IPL history (3). With Axar Patel out temporarily, Ashwin could get company from the IPL veteran this season. Mishra will be itching to make a comeback this season after playing only 3 games last season in the IPL.

Lasith Malinga (170)

At no 1 is the man himself Lasith Malinga. Malinga is clearly the most successful bowler in IPL history. In just 122 matches, Malinga has picked an astounding 170 wickets in his IPL career. The Sri Lankan pacer has been part of the only franchise throughout his IPL career - Mumbai Indians. Malinga did not take part in IPL 2020 on account of personal reasons. Recently, he was released by Mumbai Indians and has also taken retirement from franchise cricket. Malinga will truly be cherished by his supporters for what he gave to the Mumbai franchise.
