The IPL 2021 witnessed players deliver match-winning performances with the bat. Indian players, in particular, impressed with their batting performances. However, some Indian players failed to deliver with the bat as per expectations. Owing to that, their chances to represent India in the T20 World Cup have been damaged. That said, here is a list of 3 Indian batsmen who hurt their T20 World Cup hopes after a poor outing in IPL 2021:

3. Manish Pandey

Manish Pandey amassed 193 runs in 5 matches for SRH in IPL 2021. However, his strike rate of 121.78 did his team no favors in the IPL this year. The 31-year-old was criticized to suck the momentum out of SRH’s innings on quite a few occasions. Pandey lost his spot in the Indian T20I side last year due to an elbow injury. After a dismal outing in IPL 2021, it is unlikely that Pandey will represent India in the T20 World Cup.

2. Ishan Kishan

Another Indian batsman who failed to impress in IPL 2021 is MI cricketer Ishan Kishan. In 5 matches for MI in IPL 2021, Kishan managed to amass only 73 runs in total. His abysmal strike rate of 82.95 clearly highlights his ineffectiveness with the bat this season. Ishan Kishan failed to take advantage of the opportunity to represent India in the T20 World Cup. With Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma certain to open for India, it is likely that Kishan will not play in the T20 World Cup.

1. Suryakumar Yadav

The 30-year-old is one of MI’s most reliable batsmen in the IPL for quite some time now. However, Suryakumar Yadav was relatively quiet with the bat in the IPL this season. In 7 matches in IPL 2021, Yadav managed to amass only 173 runs for MI. Furthermore, his poor batting average of 24.71 highlights his inconsistency in the IPL this year. Yadav will vie against Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant to bat for India in the middle order. However, it is likely that Suryakumar Yadav could be sacrificed for either Iyer or Pant in the T20 World Cup.
