The BCCI is yet to release an official statement confirming India’s tour of Sri Lanka. The tour is probably set to take place next month.

India would likely play five T20Is and three ODIs in the Island nation. Young players would be thrown into the mix for the T20I series in the absence of the main players. The fans would get to watch some fresh faces playing for India. This game would provide a chance for India to test their bench strength as well.

Several players and coaches have agreed that playing in the Indian Premier League(IPL) helps the younger players in adapting to the international levels. The likely Indian squad touring Sri Lanka has plenty of quality and credit to their depth. With the Island nation being a weaker opponent, the Indian squad is expected to have a good time.

Another exciting prospect for the game is Rahul Dravid. He is expected to be the head coach for India on this tour. Dravid has previously worked with young players as the U-19 coach and the head of the National Cricket Academy (NCA).

Three Uncapped players in the T20I who are likely to get picked for this tour are:

Varun Chakravarthy

Varun had been picked twice for the T20I squad of India. After his exceptional performance in IPL 2020 season. However, injuries and fitness issues kept him from receiving an Indian Cap. He has become KKR’s lead spinner in the IPL. This tour might finally be his chance to show his skills in the blue jersey.

The 29-year-old could try and cement his place in the national team, given Yuzvendra Chahal’s downfall recently. He can form an effective spin duo with Ravindra Jadeja in India’s best eleven. However, his discipline would be the key factor in achieving long-term success.

Prithvi Shaw

IPL 2021 was the breakthrough season for Prithvi Shaw. Even though glimpses of his talent were displayed in his first 3 IPL seasons, the 2021 season was his career-best. For the first time in his IPL career, his season average was above 30. He partnered well with Shikhar Dhawan, forming a solid opening pair for the Delhi Capitals

Shaw had the best strike rate among batsmen who had batted five times or more in the powerplay. He averaged over 74 runs per wicket in this IPL season. The 22-year-old made improved his batting technique and reaped the rewards for it.

In Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul, his place in the squad is almost guaranteed. He would have a great opportunity to cement his place in the national squad with his performance.

Ravi Bishnoi

In his 18 match IPL career, Bishnoi has managed to impose himself on his opponents. Bishnoi has an average of under 30 and his economy is just slightly over 7. His googlies prove effective against a southpaw.

Indian selectors are most likely to pick Chahal, Rahul Chahar, and Chakravarthy for the Sri Lanka squad. But they should also consider fast-tracking Ravi Bishnoi for the selection in this squad.
