3 Indian players who can become well established after the Sri Lanka Tour

The Indian team is well prepared for the Sri Lanka tour that will take place this month. Some young and uncapped Indian players are selected to play for India in Sri Lanka. It is because the national team is currently in England for the upcoming Test series against the hosts.

During the Sri Lanka tour, India would play three ODIs and three T20Is. The ODIs would be on July 13,16 and 18. Whereas the T20Is would be on July 21,23 and 25 respectively. 

Shikhar Dhawan would lead the Indian team in Sri Lanka under the guidance of Rahul Dravid. Bhuvneshwar Kumar is the elected vice-captain of the team. Other experienced players in the squad include Hardik Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal. 

Players with less experience of playing for India include Suryakumar Yadav, Prithvi Shaw, and Sanju Samson. Uncapped players like Devdutt Padikkal and Varun Chakravarty are also part of the Indian squad for the Sri Lanka tour. 

It would provide a platform for the second-string Indian players to establish themselves as a permanent part of the national team. Players who would perform well during the tour can also get selected to play in the T20 World Cup. Some players who can get established after the tour is as follow

Prithvi Shaw 

After the Sri Lanka tour, Prithvi Shaw is the first player who could become the star of Indian cricket. He would make his T20I debut during the tournament. 

In the last year, he has struggled with his batting form that led to his omission from the national team. But he has shown an impressive batting form since the start of 2021. 

In just 8 matches of the Vijay Hazare trophy, he has made 827 runs at an average of 165.40. He made four centuries during the tournament including a double century of 227 runs. Moreover, he continued his spectacular batting form in the IPL 2021 Phase 1. Shaw had made 308 runs in 8 innings including three fifties. 

During the Sri Lanka tour, Prithvi Shaw is expected to open the series with Shikhar Dhawan. He can emerge as the highest scorer of the tournament if he can maintain his impressive batting form. 

Varun Chakravarty 

Varun Chakravarty is another Indian player who might establish himself as the future start of Indian Cricket. He has performed consistently for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL. He had picked 17 wickets in 13 games in the last season of IPL at an economy of 6.84. Chakravarty also had a five-wicket haul in one game. 

In IPL 2021, Chakravarty took 7 wickets in 7 games at a good economy rate of 7.82. He can emerge as the next spin superstar of India after the tour of Sri Lanka. Moreover, Sri Lankan grounds usually support spinner so he would have a high chance of succeeding there.
