CSK is undoubtedly one of the most successful franchises in the IPL. The Chennai franchise has won the IPL trophy 3 times. Only MI has won more IPL trophies than CSK to date. Dhoni’s men endured their worst ever IPL season last year. For the first time in IPL history, CSK failed to qualify for the IPL playoffs last year. However, this year, CSK is one of the favorites to win the IPL. The 3-time IPL champions have won their last 3 encounters in IPL 2021. That said, here are 3 milestones that CSK players could achieve in the IPL this year:

3. MS Dhoni is just 333 runs short of registering 5000 runs in the IPL

MS Dhoni is arguably one of the most popular players in IPL history. The CSK skipper is renowned worldwide for his explosive batting and match-winning ability. Recently, MS Dhoni featured in his 200th match as CSK captain. Dhoni is now en route to achieving another milestone. Apparently, Dhoni is just 333 runs shy from joining the elite 5000 run club list. Only 5 players have managed to score 5000+ runs in their IPL career. They are Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Shikhar Dhawan, David Warner, and Rohit Sharma. Dhoni has amassed 4667 runs in 208 IPL matches so far. He could join the 5000 run club list this season.

2. Suresh Raina is just 3 matches away from a record 200th appearance in the IPL

Like MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina could also achieve a personal milestone in IPL 2021. Raina needs to play only 3 more matches to complete 200 appearances in the IPL. The left-handed batsman is arguably one of the most successful batsmen in IPL history. Raina is the second-highest run-scorer in IPL history, with 5448 runs in just 197 appearances. The CSK batsman is only behind Virat Kohli, who has 5949 runs in 195 matches in the IPL.

1. Ambati Rayudu is 293 runs short of registering 4000 runs in his IPL career

Ambati Rayudu has been an invaluable asset for the CSK side over the past few seasons. The CSK cricketer is just 293 runs short of joining the 4000 club list in the IPL. Even after enjoying so much success in the IPL, Rayudu never got enough chances to prove his worth for the Indian national team.
