Owing to the increasing COVID-19 cases in India, several overseas players have pulled out of the IPL this season. The team that has been affected the most by this is Rajasthan Royals. Recently, Liam Livingstone and Andrew Tye pulled out of the IPL, citing bubble fatigue as the reason. Now, RR has only 4 foreign players left, namely Mustafizur Rahman, Jos Buttler, Chris Morris, and David Miller. As per IPL rules, IPL teams can loan out players to other IPL teams on two conditions. Firstly, the player is eligible for a move only if he has played less than 2 matches in a season for his franchise. Secondly, once loaned out, the player cannot represent his previous franchise again. That said, here are 3 players who could be loaned out to RR in IPL 2021:
3. Mitchell Santner ( 0 matches for CSK in IPL 2021)
Mitchell Santner has been part of the Chennai franchise since 2019. In his IPL career, Santner has 6 wickets to his name in 6 matches. The New Zealand bowler also boasts a terrific bowling economy of 7 in his IPL career. With Dwayne Bravo and Imran Tahir on the CSK side, Santner has not got any chance to play in the IPL this year. However, if he is loaned to RR, we could see him play this season. RR is in desperate need of a bowling all-rounder. Santner’s addition to the RR team could resolve that issue.
2. Jason Roy ( 0 matches for SRH in IPL 2021)
SRH roped Jason Roy in the IPL 2021 auction as a replacement for Mitchell Marsh. Jason Roy is one of the cleanest hitters on the English national side. However, with David Warner and Jonny Bairstow opening for SRH, Roy failed to get any game time in IPL 2021. RR is struggling to find a suitable opening partner for Jos Buttler. If SRH loan Roy to RR, we could see him open for RR alongside his English teammate Jos Buttler
1. Jimmy Neesham (0 matches for MI in IPL 2021)
At no 3 in this list is New Zealand all-rounder Jimmy Neesham. With MI already having a plethora of solid all-rounders, Neesham was bound to warm the bench in IPL 2021. However, Neesham might get some game time this season if he is loaned to RR. The 30-year-old could be an ideal replacement for Ben Stokes. With his hard-hitting and bowling ability, Neesham could add value to the current RR side.
