India’s T20I squad currently does not have the best spin bowlers. Kuldeep Yadav has struggled to take wickets with the ball for India. On the other hand, Yuzvendra Chahal’s performance in the T20I format has declined tremendously. Since August 2019, Chahal has managed to scalp only 16 wickets in 17 T20I matches for India. The bowler also leaked runs at a dismal bowling economy of 9.13 runs per over. Hence, India might replace Chahal with a more deserving player. That said, here are 3 players who might replace Yuzvendra Chahal in India’s T20I squad:
⦁ Rahul Chahar
Chahar was brilliant for MI in the IPL this year. In just 7 matches in the IPL this season, Chahar scalped a total of 11 wickets for MI. The 21-year-old bowler also maintained a superb bowling economy of 7.21 in the IPL this year. Rahul Chahar definitely has made a good case for national selection and could replace Yuzendra Chahal in India’s T20I squad.
⦁ Ravi Bishnoi
Ravi Bishnoi bowled brilliantly for Punjab in the IPL this season. In 4 matches for PBKS in the IPL this season, Ravi Bishnoi scalped a total of 4 wickets in total. The 20-year-old PBKS bowler also maintained a terrific bowling economy of 6.18 in the IPL this season. Bishnoi was the highest wicket-taker for India in the U19 World Cup. In just 6 matches, Bishnoi scalped 17 wickets for India in the U19 World Cup. After some superb bowling performances in the international and domestic format, Bishnoi might replace Yuzvendra Chahal in India’s T20I squad.
⦁ Varun Chakravarthy
Another player who might replace Yuzvendra Chahal in India’s T20I squad is Varun Chakravarthy. Chakravarthy bowled brilliantly for KKR in IPL 2020. In just 13 matches in the IPL last season, Chakravarthy scalped a total of 17 wickets for KKR. Chakravarthy was also brilliant for KKR in the IPL this season. In 7 matches in IPL 2021, the 29-year-old scalped a total of 7 wickets for KKR. After impressing national selectors with his performance in the IPL, Chakravarthy might replace Yuzvendra Chahal in India’s T20I squad.
