Sourav Ganguly got the post of President of the Indian Cricket Board on 19 November 2019. After his arrival, players and fans were expecting good things in terms of managing things on the board. During his tenure, the Indian Cricket Board managed to deliver some great moments on the field.

But, now, reports are there that Ganguly will no longer continue his post on the Board. Former cricketer, Roger Binny will replace him. Members are not happy with his performance so far. Hence, there are some reasons which have impacted his reported sacking from the post.

Here are three probable reasons behind the reported sacking of Sourav Ganguly from being the President of the Indian Cricket Board

Lack of performance

Recently, all the Board members conducted a meeting in Delhi. There, Sourav Ganguly got criticized for his underperformance in his role as the President of the board. As per reports, he was upset, disappointed, and dejected. Now, reports are suggesting that the former cricketer, Roger Binny will replace him.

Board members are not happy with Ganguly’s performance during his tenure as the President of the board. On 11 October, the former Indian skipper was the last one to leave the office. He even rolled up the glasses of his car window while leaving. Members were not happy with how Ganguly ambushed Board sponsors by endorsing the rival brands.

Political equation with parties

Another reason that is coming up is the political angle. During last year's Assembly election in West Bengal, BJP asked Sourav Ganguly to join them but he refused. Now, BJP said that they never tried to induct Sourav Ganguly into its fold. Trinamool's Santanu Sen tweeted: "Is it because he is from the state of Mamata Banerjee or he didn't join the BJP? We are with you, Dada!"

Then, BJP national vice president Dilip Ghosh said: "We don't know when the BJP tried to induct Sourav Ganguly into the party. Sourav Ganguly is a cricketing legend. Some people are now shedding crocodile tears about the changes in BCCI. Did they have any role when he took over as BCCI president? The TMC should stop politicizing every issue."

Rift with Virat Kohli

Another probable might be a rift between Sourav Ganguly and Virat Kohli. Since his initial days as the president of the Board, there were reports that Ganguly did not have a good relationship with the star Indian batter. During his tenure, Virat Kohli lost his captaincy from all formats of the game.

Virat Kohli wanted to continue as the captain in both the ODI and Test formats. But, Board denied it as they wanted to give a chance to Rohit Sharma as the new skipper in the T20I and ODI formats. Hence, this alleged rift can play a huge role in the reported sacking of Sourav Ganguly.
