CSK vs RR

3-time IPL winners CSK beat RR to register their 2nd win in IPL 2021. With the victory against RR, CSK is now 2nd in the IPL 2021 points table. Meanwhile, RR is now 7th in the points table. Batting first, CSK posted a total of 188 on the board with a loss of 9 wickets. In reply, RR could muster only 143 runs, as they lost the match by 45 runs. That said, here are 3 reasons why RR lost to CSK in IPL 2021:

Poor bowling in the death by RR

Even though no CSK player scored more than 40 runs, they somehow managed to post a total of 188 runs. Chetan Sakariya picked 3 crucial wickets for his side. However, he conceded 15 runs in his last over. RCB’s special death bowler Chris Morris conceded 25 runs in his last 2 overs. Mustafizur Rahman, just like Chetan Sakariya, conceded 15 runs in his last over with the ball. A series of cameos from CSK’s batting order ensured that CSK posted a defendable total of 188 on the board.

RR’s top order failed to deliver against CSK

Since Ben Stokes was ruled out because of an injury, Jos Buttler is now opening for RR. Even though Buttler amassed 49 runs against CSK, he did not get any support from the other side. Manan Vohra failed to impress with the bat, scoring just 14 runs in 11 deliveries. RR skipper Sanju Samson failed to make an impact, as he was dismissed for just 5 runs. Apart from Buttler, no other RR player managed to score more than 30 runs. If RR want to contend for the IPL trophy, their batting order needs to deliver soon in the upcoming matches.

CSK’s spinners impressed against RR

Ravindra Jadeja put CSK in a commanding position after picking the crucial wicket of Jos Buttler. Buttler seemed to be the only threat from the RR batting order. Jadeja bowled 4 overs, conceding just 28 runs and scalping 2 wickets in total. However, Moeen Ali was CSK’s best bowler against RR. Bowling 3 overs, Ali conceded only 7 runs and scalped 3 wickets in total. Owing to his brilliant bowling and cameo with the bat, Mooen Ali has adjudged the Man of the Match. MS Dhoni will rely on his spinners to keep delivering in a similar fashion in the upcoming matches this season.
