KKR vs DC

DC registered their 5th win by beating KKR in the 25th match of IPL 2021. Batting first, KKR posted a total of 154 on the board with a loss of 6 wickets. In reply, DC chased the total with 7 wickets in hand and 21 balls left to play. With this victory, DC climbed to the 2nd spot in the IPL 2021 points table. That said, here are 3 reasons why KKR lost against DC in the 25th match of IPL 2021:

3. KKR’s top 5 fail to impress with the bat yet again

After a bright start in IPL 2021, Nitish Rana’s performance has seen a drop recently. The KKR opener managed to score only 15 runs in 12 balls against DC. Shubman Gill’s sluggish innings of 43 off 38 balls did not help KKR either. Rahul Tripathi and Eoin Morgan were ineffective with the bat yet again. While Tripathi scored 19 runs, Morgan got out for a duck in the second ball he faced against DC. Like his captain, Sunil Narine also got out for a duck. Thanks to Russell’s brilliant knock of 45, KKR was able to post 154 on the board.

2. DC’s spinners bowled brilliantly against KKR

DC has some deadly pace bowlers such as Ishant Sharma and Kagiso Rabada on their side this season. However, it was the spinners that dealt the most damage against KKR. Lalit Yadav was DC’s best bowler against KKR. In 3 overs, Yadav conceded only 13 runs and scalped 2 wickets for DC. Yadav dismissed both Eoin Morgan and Sunil Narine for a duck. Axar Patel was also efficient with the ball, scalping 2 wickets in 4 overs. Patel accounted for the wickets of Nitish Rana and Dinesh Karthik.

1. Prithvi Shaw’s incredible batting display against KKR

Prithvi Shaw was simply unstoppable in the match against KKR in IPL 2021. In just 41 balls, Shaw smacked an impressive 81 runs, with a terrific strike rate of 200. His superb innings of 82 featured a total of 11 fours and 3 huge sixes. Unfortunately, Shaw failed to register a hundred as he got out in the 15th over of DC’s innings. Prior to Shaw’s dismissal, DC needed only 19 runs in 28 balls to win the match. Marcus Stoinis and Shimron Hetmyer finished things for DC as they won their 5th match in IPL 2021.
