Harshal Patel was one of the standout performers in the IPL this year. In just 7 matches in IPL 2021, Harshal Patel scalped an impressive 17 wickets in total for RCB. Patel was the Purple cap holder in IPL 2021 until it got suspended. If the IPL 2021 did not discontinue, Harshal Patel was the most likely candidate to win the Purple cap. That said, here are 3 reasons why Harshal Patel deserves a chance to represent India in the upcoming T20 World Cup:

3. India’s pace bowlers had an average outing in IPL 2021

India’s pace bowlers failed to impress in the IPL this year. Bhuvneshwar Kumar managed to scalp only 3 wickets in the IPL this year. Furthermore, Kumar also leaked runs at a dismal bowling economy of 9.10 per over. Prasidh Krishna, Navdeep Saini, and Mohammed Shami also struggled with the ball in IPL 2021. CSK’s Shardul Thakur endured a dismal outing in IPL 2021. Thakur managed to scalp only 5 wickets in 7 games in the IPL this year. On the other hand, Harshal Patel had a fantastic season with RCB in the IPL this year. Owing to his brilliant outing in IPL 2021, Patel deserves to represent India in the T20 World Cup.

2. Harshal Patel’s bowling variety

A major reason behind Patel’s success in IPL 2021 is his ability to bowl a variety of deliveries. The RCB bowler can bowl yorkers with pinpoint accuracy. Patel can also trick batsmen by bowling a relatively slower ball. As per research, most batsmen that Harshal Patel dismissed failed to interpret his slower deliveries. Clearly. Patel is the complete pace bowler that every team would want on their side.

1. Harshal Patel ability as an opening batsman

In the 2019-20 Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy, Patel played as an opener for Haryana. Patel went to score runs at a superb batting average of 31.12 in 12 games for Haryana. In his List A career, Patel has amassed an impressive 822 runs in 62 innings. Clearly, Patel has no chance to open for India in the T20 World Cup. However, he could contribute to the team’s score with this batting ability as well.
