The IPL 2020 once again proved why the country has an abundance of cricketing talent. Uncapped players rose to the occasion, delivering some match-winning performances and catching the hearts of their team’s fanbase. We got to witness some excellent talent, showcasing their skill with the ball and the bat.

However, for some capped players, it has been a dismal IPL season at best. They were not at their best, and hence, performed poorly compared to previous seasons.  Here we list 3 such players of the Indian team who had a season to forget in IPL 2020:

1. Kuldeep Yadav - ODI and Test squad

Once a regular starter for KKR, Kuldeep Yadav was on the bench in most part of the season. The leg spinner failed to live up to expectations, managing to scalp only one wicket in the entire season. The fact that Varun Chakravarthy was preferred over him shows his current situation in the team.

Owing to this, he has been dropped from the T20I squad against Australia. However, the selectors have kept him in the ODI and Test squad. With Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Yuzvendra Chahal in the squad, it is unlikely that he will make it to the starting XI.

2. Prithvi Shaw - Test squad

Prithvi Shaw, the 21-year-old Delhi Capitals opener, was terrible this season. With a mediocre average of just 17.5, he managed to get only 228 runs in 13 matches. As a result, he has been evidently dropped from Team India ODI and T20I squad.

With Rohit Sharma's return, alongside Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul, such terrific batsmen contending for the opening spot don't leave many chances for Prithvi Shaw.

3. Rishabh Pant - Test squad

An explosive wicketkeeper-batsman, Rishabh Pant was expected to display heroics similar to those in previous seasons. However, things didn't go as planned. He managed to hit 343 in 14 matches, averaging 31. Although his stats are commendable, his strike rate of 114 was below his previous average - a whopping 160. Moreover, his below-average batting display in recent ODI and T20I games has led to his omission from the 2 formats.

Selectors have kept faith in Pant, giving him a spot in the Test squad for the tour against Australia. However, with Wriddhiman Saha, the first choice, recuperating from injury, things look bleak for Pant.
