Ben Stokes might be up for grabs in the upcoming IPL 2022 auction. The 29-year-old was part of the RR squad in the IPL this year. However, Stokes incurred a shoulder injury and was unable to continue for the rest of the season. RR will only be able to retain 2 overseas players in the IPL next year. Hence, it is likely that RR will retain Jos Buttler and Jofra Archer for the IPL next year. That said, here are 3 IPL teams that could target Ben Stokes in the upcoming IPL 2022 auction:

1. Delhi Capitals

It is highly likely that DC will not retain Marcus Stoinis for the IPL next year. Hence, the IPL 2020 finalists will look for a solid all rounder to replace Stoinis in the IPL next season. Ben Stokes could be an ideal replacement for Stoinis in the DC lineup next year. Stokes is one of the most dangerous batsmen in the T20 format. Furthermore, the England all rounder can also scalp wickets for his team at will. DC will look to acquire Stokes in the upcoming IPL 2022 auction.

2. Kolkata Knight Riders

KKR are unlikely to retain Eoin Morgan for the IPL next season. In 7 matches in IPL 2021, Morgan could only score a meagre 92 runs in total. Hence, KKR will look for a reliable all rounder who can deliver with both ball and bat. The acquisition of Ben Stokes in the IPL 2022 auction could resolve the issue to quite some extent. Stokes can bat at any position for KKR in the IPL next season. Furthermore, the England all rounder can also contribute with the ball. KKR will definitely try its best to sign Stokes in the IPL 2022 auction.

3. Chennai Super Kings

CSK is another team which will look to acquire Ben Stokes in the IPL 2022 auction. The 3 time IPL winners might not retain Dwayne Bravo for the IPL next season. Hence, CSK will look for an all rounder to replace the West Indian cricketer for the IPL next season. The acquisition of Ben Stokes might work wonders for CSK in the IPL next season.
