The IPL has always helped uncapped Indian players make a strong case for national selection. Quite often, several young Indian talents perform brilliantly in an IPL season and make their national debut for India in quick succession. However, there are also a few Indian players who amass centuries in the IPL but fail to make their national debut. That said, here are 4 Indian cricketers who have amassed a century in the IPL but haven't played a single T20I for India:

Paul Valthaty

Paul Valthaty was part of the Punjab franchise in IPL 2011. Valthaty grabbed eyeballs after blasting a superb century against CSK in IPL 2011. The 37-year-old ended the IPL 2011 season on a blistering note, amassing a total of 463 runs. However, his performance dropped in the next two seasons in the IPL. In IPL 2012 and 2013, Valthaty scored only 36 runs in total. After a poor outing in IPL 2012 and 2013, Valthaty was released by the Punjab franchise. Valthaty’s poor performance in the IPL meant that he failed to make a strong case for national selection.

Wriddhiman Saha

Wriddhiman Saha amassed his maiden IPL century against KKR in the IPL 2014 final. However, Saha’s century went in vain as KKR won the IPL 2014 final. Saha was a consistent performer in the IPL from IPL 2014 to IPL 2017. Unfortunately for Saha, MS Dhoni was India’s T20I wicketkeeper at that time. Saha played 9 ODIs for India. However, he is yet to make his T20I debut for India.

Mayank Agarwal

Mayank Agarwal was in blistering form in the IPL last year. In IPL 2020, Agarwal amassed an impressive 424 runs in total. The 30-year-old also notched a brilliant century in the IPL last year. However, Agarwal is yet to make his T20I debut for India. With the Indian T20I side having a plethora of batting options, it is unlikely that Agarwal will make his T20I debut anytime soon.

Devdutt Padikkal

Padikkal was phenomenal for RCB in the IPL last year. In IPL 2020, Padikkal racked up a total of 473 runs for RCB. The 20-year-old also looked in fine form in the IPL this year. In 6 matches in IPL 2021, Devdutt Padikkal smashed a total of 196 runs. The 20-year-old is expected to make his T20I debut for India in the limited-overs series against Sri Lanka this year.
