4 Indian players who could replace Axar Patel in the DC lineup

Indian cricketer Axar Patel is expected to miss the first few games of IPL 2021 after testing positive for COVID-19. DC already lost their former skipper Shreyas Iyer due to injury. This is another big blow for the IPL 2020 finalists. While Patel is likely to recover in some time, the Delhi franchise will surely miss his services.

Here are 4 Indian players who could be an ideal replacement for Patel till he returns:

1. Lalit Yadav

Lalit Yadav joined forces with DC back in IPL 2020. However, Yadav is yet to make his debut for the Delhi franchise. With Axar Patel out for some time, Yadav could be the ideal replacement for the all-rounder. In 35 domestic T20 matches, Yadav amassed 560 runs with a blistering strike rate of 149.33. He is also handy with the ball, scalping 27 wickets at a miser economy of 6.86.

2. Amit Mishra

Amir Mishra is one player who has a ton of experience playing in the IPL. Mishra has played 160 IPL matches to date. In his IPL career, Mishra bagged a total of 150 wickets with an impressive economy of 7.35. Mishra had to sit out most part of the IPL 2020 on account of injury. With Ashwin in charge of the spin department, Mishra could boost the overall bowling lineup of the Delhi Capitals. Hence, Mishra could easily replace Patel, only lacking in the fitness aspect otherwise.

3. Manimaran Siddharth

After impressing in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2019-20, Manimaran Siddharth was acquired by DC in the IPL 2021 auction. Siddharth scalped 12 wickets in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2019-20. Considering his overall T20 record, Siddharth has 16 wickets to his name in just 6 matches. Moreover, his freakish economy of 4.95 clearly highlights how useful he could be to the DC side. With Patel out temporarily, Siddharth could finally get a chance to prove himself in the IPL.

4. Praveen Dubey

Dubey joined DC back in IPL 2020 after he came in to replace the injured Amit Mishra. In IPL 2020, Dubey managed to play only 3 games, bowling less than 12 overs in total. Clearly, Dubey was not given a chance to fully showcase his abilities last year. Hence, the 27-year-old could be the most likely to replace Axar Patel till the latter makes his comeback.
