A total of 10 teams will vie for the IPL trophy next season. 2 new IPL franchises are set to be added to the tournament. Each IPL franchise will have the privilege to retain 4 players. The Delhi franchise will look to retain some of its best players. Here is a list of 4 players that DC could retain in the IPL 2022 mega auction:
Shreyas Iyer
Shreyas Iyer had to skip the 1st leg of IPL 2021 on account of a shoulder injury. However, Iyer has fully recuperated and is set to play the 2nd leg of IPL 2021. Iyer was fantastic for DC in the IPL last season. The former DC skipper amassed an impressive 519 runs in the IPL last season. DC will surely want to retain Shreyas Iyer for the IPL next season.

In Iyer’s absence, Rishabh Pant led DC in the 1st leg of IPL 2021. In 8 matches in the 1st leg of IPL 2021, Rishabh Pant racked up a total of 213 runs for DC. Pant is one of DC’s most important players in the IPL this season. Hence, there is a strong chance that DC might retain Pant in the IPL 2022 auction.
Kagiso Rabada
South African bowler Kagiso Rabada is one of DC’s most important bowlers. Rabada was the highest wicket-taker in the 13th edition of the IPL. Rabada also performed well in the 1st half of IPL 2021, scalping 8 wickets in 7 matches. DC will look forward to retaining Kagiso Rabada in the 2nd leg of IPL 2021.
Shikhar Dhawan
Shikhar Dhawan was outstanding for DC in the 1st half of the IPL this season. Dhawan was the highest run-getter in the 1st leg of IPL 2021. In 8 matches in the 1st half of IPL 2021, Dhawan smashed an impressive 380 runs in total. Dhawan has been a consistent performer for DC in the IPL.
