It was a rollercoaster ride for the Sunrisers Hyderabad this season in the Indian Premier League. Even though they faced major setbacks, some in the form of injuries, SRH managed to make it to the playoffs fair and square.

With the IPL 2020 now over, the focus of the SRH management has now shifted to the upcoming IPL 2021 auction. It is a time to reassess the team’s situation and find out key strengths and weaknesses. Because of this, several players are on the verge of being released, including some star players who have underperformed this season.

Here is a list of 4 players who are on the verge of being released next season:

1. Jonny Bairstow

Even though Bairstow managed to hit 97, the highest by an SRH player this season, he was eventually dropped for the last games of the season. It has now been established that Warner and Holder are way ahead of the priority list. Moreover, Bairstow’s inconsistency might result in the team management looking for more consistent options.

2. Fabian Allen

Another player who might see the exit door next season is Fabian Allen. He only managed to warm the bench the whole season. The all-rounder dropped every single match. Had it not been for Mitchell Marsh, Allen would have gone further down the priority list. For the West Indian player, things are looking very bleak and it won't be surprising if he is let off the hook next season.

3. Mohammad Nabi

Another all-rounder, Mohammad Nabi was rarely used by the Sunrisers Hyderabad this season. The Afghanistani cricketer is nearing retirement and needs to play on a regular basis. He is just too good to be warming the bench. SRH is already jam-packed with bowling all-rounders, and with Rashid Khan and Jason Holder breathing down his neck, it is unlikely for him to get any playing opportunity.

4. Khaleel Ahmed

Despite Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s injury, Khaleel Ahmed managed to play only seven games this season. He simply was not up to the mark. He managed to pick up only 8 wickets the entire season, with a flagrant economy of 9.42.

Displaying such poor performances, Khaleel was bound to be benched. Moreover, Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s return from injury is only going to spell trouble for him. With talented bowlers such as Sandeep Sharma, T Natarajan and Shahbaz Nadeem as options, it could be that Khaleel might not make it to the starting eleven.
