The 14th edition of the Indian Premier League is set to start on April 9. The IPL has been a platform to help young talent get the deserved limelight and help them skyrocket their cricketing career. However, some players could be playing their final IPL seasons this year.

MS Dhoni

No 1 on this list is Indian cricketing legend MS Dhoni. The former India captain announced his retirement last year. After hanging his boots in the international format, Dhoni might finish his career in the domestic format. Dhoni has been with the CSK franchise since the beginning of the IPL. He won 3 IPL trophies with the Yellow Army. Could he end his IPL career on a high with a 4th trophy?

Dhoni’s IPL stats are nothing short of incredible. In 204 matches, Dhoni amassed a total of 4632 runs with a terrific strike rate of 136.8. Dhoni has also been fantastic behind the stumps, with a total of 113 catches and 21 run-outs in total.

Chris Gayle

No 2 on this list is another cricketing icon, Chris Gayle. Fans will always remember Gayle’s scintillating knock of 175 in just 66 balls. His followers worldwide will surely expect him to end his IPL career with another Gaylestorm in IPL 2021. Gayle played 132 matches, bagging a total of 4772 runs. His outstanding strike rate of 150.11 in IPL clearly outlines his aggressive batting style. He has 6 centuries and an impressive 31 half-centuries to his name as well.

Imran Tahir

At no 3 on this list is South African bowler Imran Tahir. Known for his enthusiastic sprint after taking a wicket, Imran Tahir is as passionate for the game as it gets. The 42-year-old has reached the climax of his cricketing career and will look to do well in IPL 2021. Tahir played 58 matches, picking 80 wickets with a terrific economy of 7.83. Tahir is part of the CSK squad and was the Purple Cap winner in IPL 2019, with 26 wickets.

Harbhajan Singh

Another player who might play his final IPL season is spin bowler Harbhajan Singh. Harbhajan’s trophy cabinet has a special collection of 4 IPL trophies, 3 with MI and 1 with CSK. Bhajji was released by CSK in 2020 and joined KKR. Harbhajan is the 5th highest wicket-taker in IPL history, with 150 wickets to his name. Bhajji would be eager to win the IPL trophy with KKR before he bows out of the IPL.
