The 2nd leg of the 14th edition of the IPL is set to start in September. The 1st leg of IPL 2021 had to be suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Quite a few overseas players are likely to skip the UAE leg of the IPL this season. This provides an opportunity for unsold players to make a comeback.
Aaron Finch
Surprisingly, none of the IPL franchises bought Aaron Finch in the IPL this season. The Australian opener is one of the most explosive batsmen in the T20I format. In 71 T20I matches in his T20I career, Finch has racked up an impressive 2346 runs in total. Finch has also played in the IPL previously. In 87 matches in his IPL career, Aaron Finch racked up an impressive 2005 runs in total. Finch could make a comeback in the UAE leg of IPL 2021.
Glen Phillips
Another unsold player who could be used as a replacement in the 2nd leg of IPL 2021 is Glen Phillips. The New Zealand wicketkeeper is renowned for his hard-hitting ability. In 25 T20I matches in his career, Glen Phillips has racked up an impressive 506 runs in total. His highest score in the T20I format is 108.
Adil Rashid
England spin bowler Adil Rashid is one of the best bowlers in the shortest format of the game. In 60 matches in his T20I career, Adil Rashid has scalped an impressive 59 wickets for England. IPL teams such as RR and PBKS might look to acquire Adil in the UAE leg of IPL 2021.
Sandeep Lamichhane
Sandeep Lamichhane is the first-ever Nepali cricketer to play in the IPL. Lamichhane was part of the DC squad in IPL 2018 and 2019. Unfortunately, Lamichhane went unsold in the IPL 2020 and 2021 auctions. Regardless, there is a strong chance that Lamichhane might be acquired as a replacement player in the 2nd leg of IPL 2021.
