MI New York started their campaign in the Major League Cricket 2023 with a win by a massive margin of 105 runs against Los Angeles Knight Riders.

Los Angeles Knight Riders faced an embarrassing defeat against MI New York in the 6th match of the ongoing MLC 2023. While chasing the target of 156 in the second innings, Knight Riders got bowled out only on the score of 50 runs in 13.5 overs and lost the match by a massive margin of 105 runs.

Subsequently, this performance from the Knight Riders, and MI’s dominance over them in another league apart from IPL, drew a lot of contrasting reactions on social media. Fans took to the micro-blogging site Twitter to come up with a lot of trolling for Los Angeles’ miserable performance.

Speaking of the action of the match, MI skipper Kieron Pollard won the toss and decided to bat first. Batting first, the middle-order batter Tim David played a quick knock of 48 runs off just 21 balls with four boundaries and four sixes to his name. Other than him, wicketkeeper-batter Nicholas Pooran also scored 38 runs to help their side reach a total of 155 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Ali Khan, Corne Dry, and Adam Zampa scalped two wickets each for Knight Riders alongside one wicket claimed by Lockie Ferguson.

While chasing the target, none of the batters of Los Angeles could touch the double-digit except opener Unmukt Chand who scored 26 runs which was more than half of the total score of the team. The Knight Riders’ batting lineup completely surrendered against New York’s bowlers and got bundled up only on the score of 50 runs in 13.5 overs.

All the five bowlers of MI New York scalped two wickets each including the likes of the veteran pacers Trent Boult, Kagiso Rabada, and skipper Kieron Pollard himself.

Eventually, they won the match by a massive margin of 105 runs to start their campaign with a win in the first-ever edition of the Major League Cricket. Tim David won the ‘Player of the Match award for his sensational batting in the first innings for MI.
