It is quite an accomplishment for any batsman to reach the no 1 spot in ICC Test rankings. Several Indian batsmen have had successful careers in the longest format of the game. However, there are only a few Indian batsmen who have attained the no 1 spot in the ICC Test rankings. That said, here is a list of 5 Indian batsmen who attained the no 1 spot in ICC Test rankings:

⦁ Sunil Gavaskar

At no 1 in this list is former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar. Gavaskar is arguably one of the greatest Indian cricketers of all time. In 125 matches in his Test career, Sunil Gavaskar amassed a remarkable 10122 runs for Team India. Gavaskar attained the no 1 spot in ICC Test rankings back in 1979. During that time, Gavaskar had amassed 916 ICC ranking points.

At no 2 in this list is Indian cricketing legend, Sachin Tendulkar. The 48-year-old is arguably the greatest cricketer of all time. In 200 matches in his Test career, Sachin Tendulkar racked up a remarkable 15921 runs in total. Tendulkar attained the no 1 spot in ICC Test rankings back in the year 2011.

At no 3 in this list is former Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid. Dravid was renowned for his solid defensive batting ability in the longest format of the game. In 164 matches in his Test career, Rahul Dravid amassed an impressive 13288 runs in total. Dravid has attained the no 1 spot in ICC Test rankings on multiple occasions.

At no 4 in this list is former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir. In 58 matches in his Test career, Gautam Gambhir amassed a total of 4154 runs for India. Gambhir attained the no 1 spot in the ICC Test rankings back in 2009.

At no 5 in this list is current Indian skipper Virat Kohli. In 92 Test matches in his career, Virat Kohli has amassed a total of 7547 runs in total. Kohli attained the no 1 spot in ICC Test rankings last year. Kohli had 934 ICC ranking points to his name when he attained the no 1 spot in the ICC Test rankings.
