India beat Australia away from home to win the T20I series. The competition among players to start in the playing XI has benefited the team in a positive manner. Amongst these players, one player who is in peak form is Hardik Pandya. Pandya, owing to his brilliant performance in the T20I series, was awarded Man of the Series.
The T20I World Cup is set to take the stage in 2021. With Dhoni absent, India would need a player to fill his void and support Pandya to wrap up the game. Here we look at 5 such players who can form a deadly finishing pair with Pandya:
1. Ravindra Jadeja
Jadeja has been outstanding for the men in blue in recent times. He showed how effective he is in the Tour of Australia. Jadeja was a pivotal part of India’s batting line-up. With some quickfire cameos, Jadeja anchored the team to quite a strong position in the game. Jadeja has also been quite an economical bowler. Pandya and Jadeja’s left-right duo could help India to pull out of a bad situation if one arises.
2. Manish Pandey
Pandey hasn’t been quite able to make the cut in the Indian side consistently. Manish Pandey has all the resources to become a talented player. However, it is not easy at all to make a place in this Indian team. Pandey has stellar averages of 35.14 and 47.13 in the ODI and T20 format respectively. If Pandey manages to get enough game time for India, he could turn the tides in their favor in a tight game.
3. Shreyas Iyer
The current DC captain was outstanding in IPL 2020, smashing 519 runs in just 17 matches. However, Iyer just hasn’t adapted to the international format quite yet. With 18 Tests and 22 ODIS under his belt, Iyer still has a long way to go. If Iyer is paired up with Pandya, we could witness a great finishing combo in the making.
4. Sanju Samson
Sanju Samson has been quite brilliant in the Indian Premier League. Samson is quite a talented player but needs to be consistent in order to start for the men in blue. In the IPL, Samson has got off to some superb starts. However, down the road, he has failed to keep up that energy. However, if Samson pulls up his socks and starts delivering consistently, he could pair up quite well with Hardik Pandya.
5. Ishan Kishan
Kishan had a fantastic season with MI, scoring 516 runs in 14 matches. Owing to a terrific IPl season, Kishan is considered the next big thing in Indian cricket. Given an opportunity to play in the T20 World cup, Kishan could do wonders alongside Hardik Pandya.
