India will lock horns with Sri Lanka in a bilateral series, which is set to start from July 2021. The series will comprise 3 One Day Internationals and 3 T20 International matches in total. India will be without its most important players such as Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, and many more. Owing to that, there is a chance that younger players might make their debut for the national team. That said, here are 5 Indian cricketers who might make their debut in India’s tour of Sri Lanka:

5. Varun Chakravarthy

Varun Chakravarthy was brilliant in the IPL this year. The KKR spinner scalped 17 wickets in the IPL last season. Owing to a brilliant outing in IPL 2020, Chakravarthy received his maiden national call-up. However, Chakravarthy got injured and couldn’t make his debut. After a decent outing in IPL 2021, Chakravarthy might finally make his debut against Sri Lanka in July 2021.

4. Rahul Tewatia

Another player who could make his national debut against Sri Lanka is Rahul Tewatia. Tewatia grabbed eyeballs when he smacked 5 wickets to help RR register an incredible victory over Punjab in IPL 2020. Tewatia was a part of the India squad which faced England recently this year. However, he did not make an appearance against England. Hence, it is highly likely that Tewatia might finally make his debut against Sri Lanka.

3. Ravi Bishnoi

Ravi Bishnoi performed brilliantly in the IPL this year. In 4 matches in IPL 2021, Bishnoi scalped 4 wickets for PBKS. However, it was his bowling economy of just 6.18 that was the most impressive this season. Owing to a brilliant outing in IPL 2021, Bishnoi might make his debut for India against Sri Lanka.

2. Harshal Patel

Harshal Patel deserves to make his debut in the bilateral series against Sri Lanka. In 7 matches for RCB in the IPL this season, Patel scalped 17 wickets in total. Patel was on route to win the Purple Cap in the IPL this year. Unfortunately, IPL 2021 got suspended. Owing to his exploits with the ball in IPL 2021, Patel might make his debut against Sri Lanka.

1. Devdutt Padikkal

Devdutt Padikkal is the most likely uncapped player to make his debut for India against Sri Lanka. Padikkal was the highest run-getter for RCB in the IPL last year. Furthermore, Padikkal also batted brilliantly in the IPL last year. The 20-year-old has made a solid case for himself to start for India against Sri Lanka in the bilateral series.
