Many reports suggest that the Indian T20 League auction for the 2023 season is just around the corner. With some great talent coming through the ranks, the auction is the right platform where these players can get their worth.
Let’s look at five players who will ignite the bidding wars between franchises and go for big money in the Indian T20 League.
Cameroon Green
The 23-year-old all-rounder had played a handful of ODI and Tests for Australia before the India series but remained untested in T20Is. After having been asked to open the batting with Aaron Finch, the lanky cricketer grabbed the opportunity with both hands.
Green hit 61 in just 31 deliveries in the first match as well as took one wicket in a match-winning performance for his team. In the third match, he proved that his first match blitz wasn’t a fluke as he hit 52 off of 21 to blow the Indian bowling lineup away. In the process, he hit seven fours and three sixes with a strike rate of 247.62. All the Indian T20 League franchises would be salivating at the thought of bringing Green to their team.
Harry Brook
Although Harry Brook hasn’t played a similar match-winning knock against India like Green he has shown glimpses of his raw talent in short innings. The 23-year-old has played three matches against India and made 55 runs only, but those runs came at a strike rate in excess of 150.
The right-hand batter has made a name for himself in the domestic T20 league in the world and county championship. In the 2021 season, Brookes made 967 runs for Yorkshire with an average of 107.4. In T20Is Brooks has a strike rate of 151.50 which would attract a lot of Indian T20 League franchises.
Rilee Rossouw
The 32-year-old left-hand batter made his mark in the third T20I against India with his sensational 100 in 48 deliveries. The southpaw hit seven boundaries and eight sixes in a blistering inning with a 208.33 strike rate.
His knock has opened the floodgates and Indian T20 League franchises would certainly fight with one another for Rossouw’s sign on their contract deal.
Dasun Shanaka
Sri Lanka went into the Asia Cup 2022 on the back of economic turmoil in the country with hopes not very high. They however returned back as champions having surprised all in the continental tournament. Major credit for their win goes to captain Dasun Shanaka who led from the front and played frequent match-winning knocks.
Against India, Shanaka made an unbeaten 33 off of 18 to help his team chase down 173 in 19.5 overs. The Sri Lanka captain would be a hot property in the upcoming Indian T20 league.
Reece Topley
Reece Topley emerged as one of the best players when India toured England for an all-format series. The bowler impressed all in the white ball series after coming out with some match-winning performances against Men in Blue. India got the first taste of Topley’s talent in the third T20I when he took three wickets in four wickets. His best however came in the second ODI when he took a sensational six wickets in 9.5 overs giving just 24 runs in the process.
A tall bowler who can trouble batter with pace and bounce would certainly be on every team’s radar in the Indian T20 League and hence Topley has all the chances of breaking auction records in the league.
