IPL 2021

The T20 format is widely renowned to be dominated by batsmen. However, one should never underestimate the contribution of bowlers in the shortest format of the game. From inch-perfect yorkers to dazzling bouncers, bowlers have proved time and time again why the T20 format is much more than a batsman’s game. Bowlers definitely have played their part to make the IPL much more exciting than it is.

On that note, here are 5 uncapped bowlers who could have a breakthrough campaign in IPL 2021.

Marco Jansen

The South African bowler has created quite the buzz after being recruited by Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2021 Auction. Standing at 6’8, Jansen picked up a 5 wicket haul on his debut in the Provincial Cup. In 14 first-class matches, Jansen picked up an incredible 54 wickets with a superb bowling average of 22.96. Furthermore, Jansen has played 10 T20 games, in which he managed to pick 6 wickets. A lot is expected from the tall South African lad in the 14th edition of the IPL.

Chetan Sakariya

The 23-year-old Saurashtra bowler was roped by Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2021 auction at a whopping 1.2 cr. Sakariya was outstanding in the recently contested Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy this year. Sakariya came into the limelight in the 2018-19 Ranji Trophy, wherein he picked 29 wickets in 8 games. Such fine performances in the domestic circuit helped Sakariya bag his IPL contract.

Lukman Meriwala

The 30-year-old bowler was instrumental in Baroda’s success in the Syed Mushtaq Ali tournament this year. Merivale finished as the 2nd highest wicket-taker in the tournament, with 15 wickets in 8 games. Seeing his superb outing with Baroda, DC recruited the services of Lukman Meriwala in the IPL 2021 auction. Merivale also boasts an impressive T20 record. In 44 games, Meriwala has scalped 72 wickets with a superb economy of 6.72.

R Sai Kishore

CSK bought Kishore in the IPL 2020 auction. However, he failed to make an appearance. With CSK now undergoing change, there is a possibility that we could get a glimpse of the youngster. In 33 T20 games that Kishore played, he picked a total of 33 wickets with a brilliant economy of 5.28.

Kartik Tyagi

RR bagged Tyagi in the IPL 2020 auction at a price of 1.3 crores. In IPL 2020, Tyagi played 10 matches in total, picking up 9 wickets. However, with an expensive economy of 9.61, Tyagi still needed to polish his bowling skills. The IPL 2021 could be another chance for the 20-year-old youngster to prove himself.
