Australia and Zimbabwe locked horns in the last ODI of the three-match series at the Riverway Stadium in Townsville. The visitors (Zimbabwe) entered the game after trailing by 0-2 in the series and wanted to avoid the clean sweep. It wasn't easy for the Red Army as the Aussies had registered convincing wins against them in the first two games. However, the game turned out to be unthinkable for the hosts.
Thanks to Ryan Burl's five-wicket haul, the Yellow Brigade were folded for a paltry total of 141 in 31 overs. Opening batter, David Warner was the only half-centurion for his side as he scored 94. He missed out on another ODI hundred as he tried to get to the 100-run mark with a six against Burl. Apart from Warner, Glenn Maxwell (19) crossed the double-digit mark.
The rest of the batting line-up failed to cross the double-digit scores. Talking about Ryan's five-wicket haul, it includes the wickets of Warner, Maxwell, Ashton Agar, Mitchell Starc, and Jos Hazlewood. Apart from Burl, Brad Evans took two wickets while Richard Ngarava, Victor Nyauchi, and Sean Williams took one wicket each.
Australia fought hard but couldn't avoid the defeat
In reply, the Regis Chakabva-led side had a decent start as openers, Takudzwanashe Kaitano and Tadiwanashe Marumani scored 38 runs for the first wicket. However, after losing the first wicket in the form of Kaitano, the team was reduced to 77/5 after 18.3 overs. At this stage, it looked like the Zimbabwean dream of winning an ODI for the first time would be vanished once again.
For the unversed, Zimbabwe first played an ODI game way back in 1992 and has never won a game down under. However, the skipper of the team, Chakabwa decided to step up for his side. He scored a steady 72-ball 37 to hold one end of the wicket. Useful contributions from Tony Munyonga (17 off 40) and Ryan Burl (11) helped the team reach its target with three wickets in hand and 11 overs to spare.

Wow! Feels good when an underdog does well.
Zimbabwe beating a full strength Australian side in Australia. Not that anywhere else would have been lesser, but at home beating Australia has to be
