Sarfaraz Khan, on Thursday, hit a brilliant century for Mumbai in the final of the Ranji Trophy 2022 against Madhya Pradesh. At the M Chinnaswamy stadium, Mumbai won the toss and elected to bat first. Sarfaraz Khan was in the middle on the first day of the contest after the fall of a few wickets.
Right away, the right-handed batter appeared to be in good form. He had come into this final after a string of outstanding performances throughout the season. He had three centuries in the season before this match. Sarfaraz maintained his form and played the game at a fast pace.
Yashasvi Jaiswal provided some support early in his innings, but wickets continued falling on the other end. He, however, stayed strong at the end of day one and finished his half-century early the next day. The 24-year-old then increased his scoring pace and quickly reached his century. In the 114th over, he smashed a four off Kumar Kartikeya's delivery to complete his century.
His century caught global attention as David Warner, Nicholas Pooran, Ian Bishop, and Suryakumar Yadav all praised his brilliance in the match. "Sarfraz Khan averages 81 in FC cricket. Yes, it’s a small sample size of 24 games, but it’s still remarkable," Ian Bishop Tweeted.
On the other hand, Nicholas Pooran, David Warner, and Suryakumar Yadav all posted stories on their Instagram while praising the 24-year-old batter.

Sarfaraz might soon play for India in the longest format of the game. According to sources, the selectors are considering him for the Test series against Bangladesh based on his performance in the Ranji Trophy.
"It’s impossible to overlook him now. His performances are speaking about his huge ability and putting pressure on many in the Indian team. He will be a certainty when the selectors pick the Indian team for the Bangladesh Test series. He did well for India A last year in South Arica and he’s an excellent fielder," The Times of India quoted a BCCI source as saying.
