Pakistan and Netherlands took on each other in the last game of the three-match ODI series at Hazelaarweg in Rotterdam on Sunday. The visitors won the toss and elected to bat first. However, they had a poor start as the debutant Abdullah Shafique (2) was cleaned up by Vivian Kigma in the second over. Fakhar Zaman (26 off 43) didn't look at his best either and was clean bowled by Logan van Beek.
Agha Salman was promoted up the order, thanks to his explosive batting in the first two games. However, he could score only 24 off 42 balls and was caught at midwicket by Van Beek off Shariz Ahmad. Three overs later, Khushdil Shah (2) got run out, while wicketkeeper batter Mohammad Haris (4) followed soon to leave Pakistan in trouble at 135 for 5.
In the midst of all this, skipper Babar Azam held fort at one end and went on to play an outstanding knock of 91 runs in 125 balls. He missed out on another ODI hundred by 9 runs after Aryan Dutt had him in the 43rd over. At 168/6, the team wasn’t in the best of positions.
All-rounder Mohammad Nawaz’s crucial 27, eventually, took the team past 200. Talking about the home team, De Leede took three wickets, while Kingma took two, and Dutt, Ahmad, and Van Beek took one each.
Bowlers saved the day for Pakistan
To Pakistan fans’ respite, the Green Brigade’s bowlers managed to save their side from the embarrassment of losing against the minnows. The likes of Naseem Shah and Mohammad Wasin Jr. took the first three wickets and reduced the Orange Brigade to 37/3. However, Vikramjit Singh and Tom Cooper stitched a 71-run partnership to steady the ship.
The former got out after scoring a fifty as he was caught behind by Haris off Shah. Skipper, Scott Edwards (6) followed soon after as he was cleaned up by Shah. At 116/5, Cooper and Teja Nidmanuru stitched a partnership of 56 runs to keep the hopes of upsetting a Test-playing side alive. However, in the end, they fell 9 runs short of the target.

🫡The greatness of Babar Azam is he never plays for personal milestone. Scoring a century is no more big record for him. The brain of Babar Azam works as a computer. Babar Azam makes sure he bats throughout maximum overs and cope with the conditions like a one man army #NEDvPAK

Pakistan the kind of team to struggle to beat Netherlands but then beat India by 10 wickets a week later😂 #NEDvPAK

Huge series for Naseem Shah. Not only has he produced a match winning spell, 10 wickets in his first 3 ODI matches (including 5 today)...but he's eased some of the concern about the gap left by Shaheen's injury. They're big shoes to fill. But this boy has a big future 🔥 #NEDvPAK pic.twitter.com/GjDbsBpsV0
