Riyan Parag has been in the news for more wrong reasons than right. Parag has not been in good form in the Indian Premier League (IPL) editions so far and has been unable to crack the code of getting a good season. In the tournament, he has scored 600 runs in 54 matches at an average of 16.21 and at a strike rate of 123.92. He has hit two half-centuries in the league. Recently in an interview, he talked about work ethics and Virat Kohli.
"I had a brilliant lockdown in terms of my work ethic and my diet. Why isn’t it working, why are the people trolling me on social media? The same dances that entertained people, why are they hating on it now? The same love for Virat Kohli I showed, why are they backing out now? Then I figured out when I had another bad season that there was no point in reading these things or taking their opinions seriously,” Parag said to Cricket.com in an interview.
Performances don't matter as long as I am having fun -Riyan Parag
The 2023 IPL season was one the Assam batter would like to forget. He made 78 runs from 7 games at an average of 13. For Rajasthan Royals, he has played 54 games with a below-par average of 16.22. But, the curve has turned in Parag's favour recently as he had been amongst the runs and striking the ball in the Duleep Trophy. He has hit 259 runs at an average of 86.33 at a blistering strike rate of 133.51.
“I do not care. I definitely do not care about what people think about me. I’m going to play cricket the way i started playing cricket, that was me having tons of fun. I want to play cricket the way I want to play. Performances for me don’t really matter, as long as I’m having fun and can stay calm, I think it is sorted, man,” Parag added. In the emerging Asia Cup tournament, Parag gave a good account of himself for India and got wickets in scored runs in Sri Lanka.

We don't care about your work ethic's. All we care about is performance. And what performance you done on the pitch? Only your performance on the pitch needs to get noticed not your six pack gym workouts
