On 17 October 2022, India took on Australia in the warm-up match at Gabba, Brisbane. Before this clash, the Men in Blue already played two warm-up matches against Western Australia. However, they won one while losing the another. So, ahead of the 20-20 World Cup, India had a great opportunity to practice against Australia.

On the other hand, Australia recently lost a T20I series against India in India. Even, they lost the home T20I series against England. So, they were also looking for some momentum ahead of the mega event. Speaking of the match, Aaron Finch won the toss and he asked India to bat first.

Mohammed Shami took three wickets in the final over against Australia while defending 11 runs       

While batting first, India scored 186 runs for seven wickets in 20 overs. KL Rahul looked in good touch as he scored 57 runs off 33 balls. He hit six fours and three sixes throughout the inning. After that, Suryakumar Yadav scored 50 balls off 33 balls, including six fours and a six. For the Aussies, Kane Richardson took four wickets for 30 runs in four overs. In response, Australian batters were on the track to chase it down. Skipper Aaron Finch scored 76 runs off 54 balls, including seven fours and three sixes. In the last over of the match, Mohammed Shami came up to bowl.

It was his first over of that match. Australia needed 11 runs in that over. But, he managed to take three wickets along with a run-out in the last four consecutive deliveries. Thus, Shami conceded only four runs as India won the match by six runs. Mohammed Shami nailed two ferocious yorkers against whom, Australian batters had no clue. Shami took three wickets for four runs in the single over he bowled in the match. Fans also went crazy after seeing the veteran Indian pacer in such a top form as they shared their views on social media platforms.
