Aakash Chopra agreed with Rahul Dravid that India would have a great opportunity of winning the upcoming Test series in England. In a recent interview, Rahul Dravid stated that the recent tour provides a good chance for India to win a series in England. He also predicted a 3-2 win in favor of India in the five-match test series against England.
In a recent YouTube video, Aakash Chopra completely agreed with Rahul Dravid’s statement. He also recalled the Australia tour where the chances of winning were less due to injuries. But the Indian team still managed to win the series there.
He highlighted the fact that in Australia, the Indian team won with half a team. So with a complete team and the presence of all the big payers, India has a good chance of winning the series in England. He agreed that it would be a great opportunity for the Indian team.
Indian team would likely be high on confidence after two back-to-back wins against Australia and England. But the seamer-friendly English condition can create some difficulties for India.
However, the Indian players should get adjusted to the conditions in England before the match against England. The Indian team would already have stayed there for a while because they would play against New Zealand in the WTC final starting from 18th June in Southampton.
The pressure would be on the Indian batsmen to give a good performance
Aakash Chopra applauded the all-around strength of the Indian team. The batting lineup is solid and the spinners and the fast bowling are also good. He believes India can bat well and prominent batsmen from the team rise up to the occasion, the team would have a good chance of winning. The team would depend on four pillars-Kohli, Rahane, Rohit Sharma, and Cheteshwar Pujara.
Aakash Chopra concluded that Rishabh Pant would likely play an important role in the team’s success in England. Along with that Ravindra Jadeja’s presence would allow India to go on the field with five frontline bowlers. All of these factors may add up to lead to India’s success.
The last Test series India won in England was under Dravid’s captaincy in 2007. The Indian side has hardly won a couple of Tests in England after that. As the Captain of the Indian team now, Virat Kohli would hope to turn things around this time.
