The 35th game of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) saw the defending champion Gujarat Titans play against the five-time champion Mumbai Indians. At the Narendra Modi Stadium, the two sides faced off for the very first time in IPL 2023.

Former Indian cricketer-turned-broadcaster Aakash Chopra made an unexpected remark during the game, while Arjun Tendulkar as well as Neha Wadhera were on the crease for Mumbai Indians. After noticing that both Tendulkar as well as Wadhera were left-handed hitters, Chopra made the comment. Shortly after, Jason Behrendorff took over duties when Piyush Chawla was dismissed.

Aakash Chopra, a member of the Hindi commentary team, was cited as saying as soon as the focus shifted to the left-handers' game. He said, “Mein kya karu? Job chod du? (What do I do? Should I leave the job?).” Since comedian Abhishek Upamanyu first used this phrase, it has gained widespread popularity. The Indian all-around player R Ashwin shared a photo of Cheteshwar Pujara bowling at the Nagpur Test in the Border Gavaskar Trophy in 2023 using this template, which afterwards became a meme.

What happened in the game between Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians?

David Miller and Abhinav Manohar helped the Gujarat Titans progress towards a triumphant end. Manohar then fell on 42 off 21 and Miller on 46 off 22, respectively. Thanks to Rahul Tewatia's 20 runs in just five balls, Gujarat Titans had a score of 207/6 in their 20 overs.

Mumbai Indians' batters struggled to generate anything with the bat. Hardik Pandya and Mohammed Shami were methodical with their line and lengths. After taking the crucial wicket of the opposing team's captain, Rohit Sharma, Gujarat Titans' dominance continued for the following 10 overs.

The desired run rate was not met while Nehal Wadhera as well as Suryakumar Yadav remained at the crease searching for boundaries. This was nearly the last strong batting duo with fewer wickets in hand. Noor Ahmed, who was playing a fantasy game, got rid of Suryakumar Yadav. The Mumbai Indians could only muster 152/9 before losing nearly all of their wickets to GT bowlers.
