Indian cricket commentator and former cricketer Aakash Chopra has selected his combined best playing XI of the World Test Championship. The ICC WTC final is going to start on June 18 in Southampton. India and New Zealand deserve to be in the final as they have been performed brilliantly in the last two years. In a recent discussion, Aakash Chopra selected his playing XI players based on their performances in the last two years. The former Indian batsman went with Rohit Sharma and Dimuth Karunaratne at the top. Chopra reckoned that their consistency in scoring runs at the top order was crucial for both India and Sri Lanka, respectively. Rohit Sharma has amassed 1030 runs in 11 Test matches at an average of 64.37. On the other hand, Dimuth Karunaratne scored 999 runs in 10 Tests at an impressive average of 55.50.

For the 3rd and 4th spot, Chopra went with the Australian pair of Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne. Smith has amassed 1341 runs in 13 Test matches at an impressive average of 63.85. This also includes four centuries. Talking about Marnus, he is the highest run-getter with 1675 runs in 13 Test matches at an average of 72.82, including five tons. The duo has a phenomenal ability to bat for longer periods of time and score runs in any condition.
At no.5 Chopra has picked New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson. He has also been named as the skipper of the team by Chopra. Kane Williamson has scored 817 runs in nine Tests at an average of 58.35. Ben Stokes has taken the all-rounder’s role in Chopra’s playing XI. Stokes has scored 1334 runs in 17 Test matches. He has also picked up 34 wickets during the WTC cycle. For the bowling department, Aakash Chopra has picked Ravi Ashwin and Pat Cummins at number eight and nine due to their ability to bat as well. The former has also included Stuart Broad and Tim Southee as his seam bowlers in WTC XI.
