Aaron Finch has been consistently inconsistent of late. His form in the international arena has been lukewarm as well. Despite leading Australia to their maiden 20-20 World Cup trophy in 2021, his contribution with the bat wasn't really significant.

His poor form resulted in him finding no bidders during the Indian T20 league 2022 mega auction. Moreover, it is to be noted that Finch's numbers in the cash-rich league aren't really impressive, to say the least. However, he joined the Kolkata-based franchise as Alex Hales' replacement after the English opener pulled out of the 2022 edition. Yet, he hasn't been at his best in the ongoing season.

Apart from a valiant half-century against Rajasthan earlier in the tournament, he has been below-par in the other games in which he played. Thus, Finch recenty said that his game in the 2022 edition has been a hit and a miss so far. Australia's limited-overs skipper also stated that he gets an honest feedback from Kolkata's coach Brendon McCullum, and David Hussey.

“My game has been a hit and a miss so far. I am focusing on trying to hit straight and stay on a bit longer. I work with David Hussey, and Brendon McCullum and get an honest feedback. T20 is a brutal game for batters and bowlers and you have to be honest with yourself to be successful,” said Aaron Finch while speaking on Star Sports.

During Kolkata's recent game against the Sanju Samson-led side, the Aussie opener was dismissed after scoring just four runs. He consumed seven balls for the same. Thus, he will have to get back to the groove, and start consistently scoring runs. Besides, Kolkata needs him to be at his best as they need to win all their matches to qualify for the playoffs.

They have won four out of their 10 games so far, and are currently placed seventh on the points table. However, their seven-wicket victory over Rajasthan comes as a positive sign for them. They need to continue winning games, and cannot afford any mistakes. Kolkata's next game is scheduled to take place on May 6, against Mumbai.
